Intro Series

Intro to Yoga with Nikki Chau
Wednesday evenings, 7:30pm - 8:45pm
March 14 - April 18, 2012 (six weeks)
$85 or $160 for two people. Early bird discount by March 1, $75 or $140 for two.

This introduction series will cover the fundamentals of yoga including alignment, breathing, and relaxation techniques. The classes are progressive and will help prepare you for ongoing yoga classes with confidence.

The series is designed for anyone brand new to yoga or has dabbled in a class or two and would like to start on the right foot (it's okay if you're left-footed too). It's also appropriate for anyone who has been doing yoga for some time and wants to learn the techniques of doing the poses and to learn the tenets of yoga.



Yoga Fundamentals with Theresa Elliott
Wednesday evenings, 6:00 - 7:15pm (six weeks)

Learn or review the basics of yoga! This series will take students step by step through common yoga postures and is a perfect place to start or deepen your understanding of the fundamentals.

This class will be held in tandem with the Apprenticeship Master Class Series and will be taught by Theresa Elliott and qualified apprentice teachers.



Yoga Fundamentals: Inversions with Theresa Elliott
Wednesday evenings, 6:00 - 7:15pm (six weeks)
March 21 - April 25, 2012 (bonus class May 2)
$85, $160 for two people, preregistration required, email info@tajyoga.com to register.

Uncle Fester was onto something, why not try it too! This class will cover preparatory postures and safe approaches for standing on your head, hands, and shoulders. Students will learn step-by-step preliminary work, and then choose whether to stay with the preliminaries or progress to the full poses. All work will include alignment and how to use props to that end. Excellent for those who have never done inversions, those wanting a refresher, and teachers wanting to increase their inversion "tools."

This class will be held in tandem with the Apprenticeship Master Class Series and will be taught by Theresa Elliott and qualified apprentice teachers. The bonus class offered May 2 will be taught by apprentices from the series.



Adult Series

Stabilize, Stretch, and Roll, a Pilates-Based Master Class with Mary Sue Corrado
Selected Sundays
4:00pm-5:30pm in Taj 2
Students must bring their own foam roller to class (3 feet x 6 inches).
$20 drop-in or $50 per session. Email info@tajyoga.com to register.

Are your muscles a little too tight? Do you have a foam roller? We will stretch, stabilize, and roll out all the kinks. Teacher Mary Sue Corrado has been teaching Pilates since 1983. She specializes in Therapeutic Pilates techniques and restoring functional motor patterns to alleviate chronic injuries or pain. Due to chemical sensitivities, please come scent free.

* Earlier sessions are not required. Drop-ins are welcome.



The Breathing Lab with Carol Levin, Certified by Alexander Technique International
Wednesday evenings (6 classes)

January 4 - February 8, 2012

In The Breathing Lab, we will work with daily activities (including yoga postures if you choose), to learn about the mechanics of breathing and moving efficiently. Each student will gain information about how to move as an integrated whole. Using Alexander Technique principles, we'll observe our patterns to discover we have more choices. Students will develop individual strategies to reduce pain and fatigue, support well being,and will have the ability to apply this new information in all areas of their lives. Students who have attended a previous series are welcome to drop in any time or take the series again and continue to add to what you've learned so far.



Daily Morning Immersion with Dylan Noebels

An immersion is the best way to develop and maintain a daily yoga practice. Requirements are the ability to wake up in the morning, the desire to do yoga, and a sense of humor.

Summer 2012

Learn how to prepare for a photo shoot and create yoga images for use in flyers and websites. Series will culminate in a photo shoot with both Theresa and Dennis.

Topics will include:

  • How to chose poses for a photo shoot
  • What to wear
  • Perspective and foreshortening
  • The legalities: copyrights, contracts and photographers.

Youth & Family Yoga

Teen Yoga with Mary Kay Bisignano-Vadino
Monday afternoons (5 classes)

This class is designed to introduce teens to the positive powerful effects of yoga. Students will focus on developing strength, flexibility, balance and awareness by moving through yoga postures with attention to breath and alignment. Teens will be encouraged to work toward their full potential in a nurturing and playful environment.



Yoga for Special Needs: Youth
with Mandi Grover

Tuesdays, 4:30pm - 5:30pm in Taj 1

This ongoing weekly class is for people with developmental disabilities and focuses on gentle stretching and strength building through postures (asana), breathing (pranayama), and relaxation (savasana). This is a fun class where participants can enjoy a group yoga practice. All ability levels welcome. Drop-ins welcome, multi-class passes are also available.

Clay Modeling: Knowing the Knees by Working with the Hands with Jim Strange

This class is perhaps the most effective way to learn joint principles and specifically understand the three dimensions of the knee joint. You will see and feel knees in a new and profoundly different way after this class.

We will learn through clay modeling:

  • The universal concave-convex relationship of joints and the implications for exercise and movement
  • The role and function of critical ligaments
  • The configuration and dynamics of knee musculature and tendons
  • Exercises and principles behind muscle teamwork and joint stabilization
  • Physiological rational for dynamic and eccentric engagement of muscles versus passive stretching
  • Q angle and its implications for knee health




Yoga at Your Desk with Theresa Elliott
This workshop is being offered on two separate dates.

Whether sitting at your desk or talking in a cubicle, there are simple stretches and short routines you can do at work to release your back, shoulders, and hips. Terrific for anyone who spends the day sitting in front of a computer, sitting with clients, or both! Instruction will include:

  • Safe alignment and how to adapt poses.
  • Five- and 10-minute stress reduction sequences.
  • A handout and a PDF on disc for easy reference during your workday.
*The workshops are not consecutive. Earlier workshops are not required.

Mobility & Stability in Yoga
Mobility and Stability in Yoga

Focus on the Neck: Saturday & Sunday, July 14-15, 2012
Focus on the Knee: Saturday & Sunday, January 26-27, 2013
Daily schedule: 10am - 5pm.

These courses are designed for yoga practitioners who are interested in increasing their understanding of applied anatomy, including the biomechanics of stability and mobility as it applies to yoga. Techniques for asanas will be covered in depth, focusing on precision and biomechanically sound movement patterns.

These workshops help participants in their own practice of yoga, as well as guide them in working with others. They are perfect for students or teachers of yoga who struggle with their own injuries and limitations, and anyone wishing to add depth to their knowledge and skill set in yoga.

Courses come with a fully illustrated manual and count as CECs with the Yoga Alliance under the category of Techniques, Training and Practice. A beginning level understanding of yoga is required. Enrollment limited to 16 participants.

BodyNerds Networking Evening
Enjoy an evening of networking with body work professionals and those who are passionate and curious about the skin in which they live. BodyNerds creates the unique opportunity to make personal and professional connections with Massage Therapists, Chiropractors, Personal Trainers, Yogis, Physical Therapists, along with anyone who shares a curiosity about physicality.

Evenings include a 45-minute presentation by a skilled professional speaking about their area of expertise, as well as time to mix and mingle, meet and greet!
